Free Downloadable Application Software

If you need some applications like Word, Excel or PowerPoint but can't purchase them, here is a good alternative for you to download to your computer. Once it is on your computer, you don't need to be connected to the internet to use it.

OpenOffice.org is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose.

Did you know that at Google.com you can use their online Documents Programs for spreadsheets, word processors and presentation software for FREE?

Log on into your Google account at Google.com
Click on "more" from the links at the top of the page
Go down to "documents."
From there you can select which program you want to use.

Also you can share your document with others to be able to view and or edit the document. It's great for working with a group from class.

Microsoft's website has online training for Microsoft Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 versions. These can be done at your own pace and are free of charge.

Carpooling Poster Contest Deadline Extended

The deadline for the poster contest has been extended to May 31st. Students have an opportunity to win scholarship prizes ($200, $75 and $50) for by entering the Carpooling Poster Design Contest sponsored by the Sustainability Council.

Entry form and additional information are also available through the club website for the Sustainability Council. Entries must be submitted to the Student Affairs Desk in SAC East by 5pm on Tuesday, May 31st.

CARE is a program which represents a cooperative effort involving Cabrillo College, CalWORKs & California Employment Development Department. CARE assists in linking education, job training and supportive services for single parents on welfare.

WIA Reimbursements Requests

Have you paid for a covered expense but not yet turned in your reimbursement request paperwork? Go dig up your receipts and proof of payment and bring them in to the office along with your signed request form. Don't put it off any longer! Refer to this post about what is covered. Requests must be made within 30 days of purchase.

Remember, no transportation reimbursements will be made for the Spring semester.

CalWORKs Hourly Activity Reports

CalWORKs students, remember to turn in your Hourly Activities Reports to our office. We will forward to your ETS at the County after we verify your class enrollment. You may print blank forms from our the CalWORKs page on our website. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the monthly forms.

Fall Parking Permits

If you need a parking permit for the Fall semester, remember to request it while you are logged in to WebAdvisor.

Select ""Optional: Parking Permit, Childcare Fund" under the "Registration" section on the Student Menu.

Select the Fall 2011 term.

Click on Submit.

Remember, bus passes will not be available through Cabrillo for the Fall semester. If you need a bus pass, you must purchase it from the Santa Cruz Metro.

Registering for Fall Classes

Fall 2011 classes are now visible in WebAdvisor. Get everything ready for your registration date/time slot now.

Log into WebAdvisor to look up your classes.
Click on "Students Click Here"
Under "Registration", click on "Register for Sections"

If you do not know the class section number, click on "Search and Register"
choose Fall 2011 for "Term", then look up your classes. You do not need to fill in all the fields.
once you find the classes you want, click on "Submit"
the classes will be added to your Preferred Sections which is like a shopping cart

If you do know the class section number, click on "Express Register"
Enter the section numbers for all your classes and click "Submit"
The classes will be added to your Preferred Sections which is like a shopping cart

These classes will sit in your account and be there for you when your date and time slot for registering arrives.

To Register for the classes
Log into WebAdvisor a few minutes before your time slot
Select "Register" for the "Action for ALL Pref. Sections"
When your time is up, click on "SUBMIT" at the bottom of the page to complete the registration process!

If you have problems or questions, stop by the office so we can help you.
Do not wait until your registration time slot has passed.

Student Affairs will be loaning out graduation caps and gowns to students receiving financial aid. Fast Track students may pick up the form at Student Affairs around May 15, bring it to our office to get our signature and then return the form to Student Affairs. They will then issue you a cap and gown.
