CalWORKs Participants Survey

A former community college student is currently attending UC Berkeley and distributing a survey for her research project. She asked that we pass this along to our students. Complete the survey below and let your voice be heard.

Dear Student Parent,

I am Melissa Padilla, a student parent at U.C. Berkeley, and I am spending my summer collecting information and opinions from student parents who are or were CalWORKs participants. I hope you will help by completing this survey. As a former CalWORKs recipient I am passionate about helping improve the program to be as useful as possible to low-income student parents; for this, policy makers need to know YOUR experiences and opinions. This survey of student-parent views is going statewide, and aiming for broad representation of the many different kinds of CalWORKs student parents. We need YOUR contribution!

My research is supervised by Professor Jane Mauldon of the Goldman School of Public Policy at U.C. Berkeley. The results of the survey will be written up in a paper to be shared with advocates, researchers and policy makers. Your contribution to this survey is extremely valuable -- without you and people like you there would be no survey! Your input will help enforce accountability, effectiveness, and social return on investment into the CalWORKs program. It will also provide information that can possibly inform and improve legislation, improve program design and implementation, and how to better serve you through better management of its services. A survey of this magnitude and importance has never been done before in California so it’s important that your voices be heard.
