The time has finally arrived for our students to apply for the 2015 General Scholarship Application. Funded through private donations to the Cabrillo College Foundation, scholarships are awarded to selected Cabrillo College students who show academic promise, scholastic achievement, and community and/or campus involvement.

This application places students in consideration for the scholarships generated through the Cabrillo College Foundation as well as some private scholarships throughout the year.

Scholarships awards range from $500-2,500 to be disbursed beginning Fall of 2016-17 school year. Students may access the General Scholarship eForm Application by logging into their WebAdvisor account. Application Instructions may be accessed at the following link: http://www.cabrillo.edu/services/finaid/genscholarship.html

3rd Annual Diaper Drive

SRSN will be gathering new, disposable diapers for families in need this Halloween. After all there is nothing scarier than diapers! We recognize that many of the support mechanisms available to families in need may not be used to purchase diapers; and even though students are awarded Financial Aid there is still an unmet need. In order to help families stretch their dollars, we hold an annual diaper drive and maintain a diaper closet.

In addition to diapers and wipes, we will also be collecting warm clothing for adults and kids (sweaters, sweatshirts, mittens, boots, etc).

For more information contact Jenna @ 479-6344.

Pass/No Pass Deadline 10/3

Saturday, October 3 is the deadline to choose a pass/no pass option for full term Fall classes.

In some classes you can choose the P/NP grading option rather than a letter grade. Grades of P (pass) and NP (no pass) are not factored into your GPA. A P grade is a passing grade indicating satisfactory completion of course requirements. A NP grade is not a passing grade but will not hurt your GPA.

This grading option is not intended for courses required by your major. Transfer students should meet with a counselor prior to taking math or English composition courses via the P/NP grading option. Generally, math and English composition courses should be taken for letter grade.

For AA/AS degrees, up to twelve semester units may be P grades instead of letter grades.

Dropping Courses?

  • September 11 - Last day to add or register for a full-term section
  • September 11 - Last day to drop a full-term course and receive a reversal of charges or refund of enrollment
  • September 13 - Deadline to drop a full-term course without a permanent record "W"
  • September 14 - Census Day; Financial Aid awards are not adjusted after this date
Just as it is your responsibility to register yourself for a class, it is also your responsibility to drop a class when you decide not to continue. The timing of a drop makes a difference in whether or not you owe the college for a course you registered for or if you will receive a refund. It could also impact your financial aid and may limit your ability to receive aid in the future.

Dropping so you can take this class next semester? Careful! Students are allowed ONLY three attempts to successfully pass a course and will then be unable to take it again at Cabrillo. Learn more about this new State regulation and what it might mean to you.

CA Child Passenger Safety Law

Children must ride in the back seat in a properly secured child passenger safety seat (car seat/booster) until they are AT LEAST 8 years old, unless they are 4’9” tall.
Children who have outgrown a harness car seat need to ride in a booster seat, regardless of their age, until they fit properly into the seat belt only. Seat belt should fit as follows:
  • lap belt low (touching the thighs)
  • shoulder belt across middle of chest and shoulder (not under arm or behind back)
  • knees bent comfortably without slouching.
If your child does not pass this “fit test”, they need a booster seat!

Click here for a list of Inspection Sites and the SEATS for KIDS Program which provides child safety seats for low income families.
