Dear Students of Cabrillo College,

With the recent election outcome, Cabrillo College faculty, staff and administration want to assure you that we will continue to support ALL of our students.

Cabrillo College prides itself on being a public institution of higher education that provides open access to ALL, regardless of race, gender, age, income, or physical ability. Cabrillo College has a long-standing history of commitment to its students, and that is not going to change.

Although we don't have predictions for the future, we believe that moving forward with your educational plans and goals is one of the most strident, immediate responses you can make and Cabrillo is here for you, to help you do that.

As our nation continues to move forward and as the College provides whatever supports we can, the larger question of what happens next is something to be addressed. During this time, we are grateful for the Cabrillo College community, where dedicated faculty, staff and administrators are coming together to support our students.

Let us also be sure that we provide whatever comfort we can to one another, and to remain strong in who we are as a learning institution. If you need support, please talk with your teachers and counselors and know that you will be safe in doing so.

As a College, we are working on events and opportunities to talk together, as well as links for factual information and support resources. We realize may students may be experiencing emotional reactions or trauma at this time. In coming weeks, please look for further emails regarding safe spaces and available resources.

Thank you Seahawks,

Dr. Laurel Jones, President and Superintendent
and the Cabrillo Administration

Gracias Seahawks,

Dr. Laurel Jones

4th Annual Diaper Drive

It's that time again! Come down to the SAC Plaza on Cabrillo's Aptos campus on Halloween from 10:00 to 2:00!

SRSN will be gathering new disposable diapers and wipes for Cabrillo families/students in need this Halloween. After all there is nothing scarier than diapers! We recognize that many of the support mechanisms available to families in need may not be used to purchase diapers; and even though students are awarded Federal Financial Aid there is still an unmet need. In order to help families stretch their dollars, we hold this annual Diaper Drive and maintain a diaper closet.

Please join us for Refreshments and Entertainment, all for a great cause!

Dropping Courses?

  • September 9 - Last day to add or register for a full-term section
  • September 9 - Last day to drop a full-term course and receive a reversal of charges or refund of enrollment
  • September 10 - Deadline to drop a full-term course without a permanent record "W"
  • September 10 - Census Day; Financial Aid awards are not adjusted after this date
Just as it is your responsibility to register yourself for a class, it is also your responsibility to drop a class when you decide not to continue. The timing of a drop makes a difference in whether or not you owe the college for a course you registered for or if you will receive a refund. It could also impact your financial aid and may limit your ability to receive aid in the future.

Dropping so you can take this class next semester? Careful! Students are allowed ONLY three attempts to successfully pass a course and will then be unable to take it again at Cabrillo. Learn more about this new State regulation and what it might mean to you.

Bus Passes for all Cabrillo Students starting Fall 2016

Correction to previous post:

All Cabrillo students will be issued a new student ID card each semester starting with Fall 2016. This card is also a Santa Cruz Metro bus pass valid starting August 15 and is valid until the start of the Spring 2017 semester.

Students may pick up their new Student ID/Bus Pass card, a sticker for Student Activities, and parking permit starting August 8, 2016 at Cabrillo College's Welcome Center located upstairs in the SAC East building.

Cabrillo students recently held an election and voted to impose a mandatory transportation fee of $40 per student per semester. The fee provides each student with a bus pass valid seven days a week, providing Santa Cruz Metro bus service throughout Santa Cruz County with transfers to Monterey-Salinas Transit. Students will simply show their current semester Cabrillo ID card to ride the bus.
